TradeDoubler Affiliate Marketing Summit is a Resounding Success
25 September 2007
TradeDoubler last week confirmed its leading position within the UK affiliate marketing industry when hundreds of delegates comprising publishers, agencies and advertisers from sectors ranging from retail, travel and electronics to telecoms, finance and gaming attended the TradeDoubler 2007 Summit at the British Film Institute on 19th September. Summit speakers stimulated interesting debates on the challenges and opportunities facing the online industry, and the future of affiliate marketing.
The Summit, sponsored by hmv.com, ebookers and Dell, covered a range of hot topics relevant to the affiliate space - from social networking, online consumer behaviour, loyalty and search to affiliate 3.0 and the latest TradeDoubler developments. As well as a full timetable of keynotes, presentations, panels and Q&A sessions, there were sector advice clinics and affiliate programme surgeries for more specific, one-to-one discussions.
Andreas Bernstrm, COO and Managing Director UK and Ireland, TradeDoubler, opened the summit introducing the keynote speakers, Kevin Ryan, Founder of DoubleClick and pioneer of ShopWiki, and Dan Goldstein, Assistant Professor of Marketing, London Business School.
Kevin Ryan shared his thoughts looking back on ten years of the web and provided some enlightening predictions as to where the internet industry will be by 2017.
Dan Goldstein provided a fascinating insight into human psychology and how recent changes in technology - consumer broadband and dynamic content - have led to changes in behaviour on both the consumer and business side. He also provided some revealing research which demonstrated the continued exponential growth of social networking.
Richard Eyre, Chairman, IAB and former Chief Executive of ITV, closed the day with his session 'Don't Blame the Technology'. He emphasised the ever increasing importance of social networking and how the age of the individual and self expression will change how we use the web.
"We thought the balance of speakers worked really well, with the wider perspective from Kevin, Dan and Richard providing a great opportunity for reflection," said Ed Hall of ClickAngel. "All in all we thought the scale and professionalism of the event was excellent and perhaps indicative of the industry's 'coming-of-age'."
"An excellent event" said Adam Hawes of British Gas. "The day was a great success and I really am struggling for ideas of how it could be improved upon... It's going to be a tough task for next year's organisers to outdo it."
